Polo major service

Hi all,

I’m new to the forum and have a couple of questions that I’ve been meaning to ask for a while.

My Polo GT has currently done around 93,000 km and is due for its major service at 1,00,000 km. However, I’m planning to get the major service done at around 95,000 km.

I live in Electronic City, Bangalore, and wanted to get some advice on the following:

1. Is it worth continuing to get the car serviced at Volkswagen, or would you recommend a good independent VW specialist in Bangalore?
2. At what mileage should the transmission oil be changed on the Polo GT? Is it something that should be done as part of the 95,000 km service?

For the servicing itself, if your car do not show any major issues with gearbox or any other mechanicals consider a reputed independent VW/Škoda  It can be significantly cheaper while still maintaining proper VAG diagnostics and parts quality.
Things to check:
1. Do they regularly work on POLOs.
2. They should have VCDS/ODIS diagnostics.
3. They understand the DQ200 DSG if this is the 1.2 TSI GT.
4. Also you should get a proper inspection report.

Why not service volkswagen?
Well nothing really wrong with that, but if your car do not have major problems its not worth it.
As when they see the milage they change a lot of parts based on just that (preventive maintenance) and it is not needed in most cases.

You can check volks car care tech in bangalore, its a VAG focused independent workshop.
However if i were you i would call and check if they do a lot of POLOs

About the oil.
Its not a mandate to change a 100000 kms.
But as you didn’t mention the exact engine and transmission type it’ll be tough to guess the exact routine for you car’s transmission oil change.
But its always a good idea to get it checked during the service visit.

I checked this place Volks tech car care and it’s almost 35 kms from my place. Looking for something in and around electronic city. Because going so far for service is not an issue but following up will be a problem.

Check your service manual , most VAGs ask you to change the Timing belt kit  and alternator kit( belt, pulley, tensioner) changed at 90k kms

This is important as a worn out belt if snapped can damage the engine head

Again a trusted FNG can do the job else ASC is the best bet
