Used 2016 Skoda Octavia TDI DSG or 2015 Superb TSI DSG?

Question

I mostly drive highways regularly also almost daily city as well. Confused between these 2 options. 
2016 Octavia TDI DSG is 78k clocked and maintained outside Skoda. Service record is Available only till the last 49k Service and post that 2 services have been done outside. 
2015 Superb TSI DSG has clocked 75k with service record till 60k. 

Please help me with some of the mandatory check points to check before I go ahead since this is going to be my first German Car purchase. I have been driving manual so far and would want to know the major things on DSG as well.

Hi Akash! Firstly great choice :P

My first pick would be the Octavia, mainly because it's the TDI, but only if you can confirm the DSG service history. If the gearbox service has been skipped, be prepared for an immediate expenditure of around ₹20-25k. The Superb is a fantastic car, but it becomes significantly riskier if maintenance has not been carried out correctly. Trust me, I own one.

- Check whether the Octavia has the DQ250 DSG gearbox. It is generally considered more reliable than the DQ200 and is better suited to the diesel engine.

- During inspection, pay attention to:

-- Cold start behaviour and any unusual startup noises
-- Engine idling quality
-- Smoke from the exhaust
-- DSG behaviour at low speeds, especially in traffic
-- Quick acceleration and kickdown response
-- Engine oil condition
-- Coolant level and condition
-- Any oil or coolant leaks around the engine bay and hoses
-- Suspension noises over speed breakers and rough roads
-- Functionality of all electronics, switches and AC
-- Sunroof operation and water drainage channels if equipped

- Specifically ask about DPF and EGR maintenance history on the TDI. Neglected systems can become expensive later.

- Keep in mind that the Superb TSI will consume noticeably more fuel than the Octavia TDI. For someone doing regular highway runs, the TDI generally makes much more financial sense.

- I would strongly recommend a pre-purchase inspection from a VAG specialist. These cars are brilliant when maintained properly, but missing even one major issue can result in a very expensive surprise after purchase.

- My personal preference between these two would be the Octavia, provided:

-- DSG service has been done on time
-- No DPF or EGR related issues are present
-- OBD scan is clean
-- No major accident history exists

I've personally dealt with most of the issues mentioned above, which is why I'm suggesting these checks. If either car passes a thorough inspection, the ownership experience, comfort and driving feel are still on a different level compared to most cars in the segment.
