Had this conversation at my last service and figured it is worth writing down properly since the advisor gave me a different answer than what my owner manual says.
The 1.5 TSI EVO (150 PS, ACT/cylinder deactivation) engine in the Slavia calls for a VW 508 00 spec oil at 0W-20 viscosity. This is a low SAPS, low viscosity oil specifically formulated for engines with the timing chain and particulate filter setup used on the EVO motor. Do not let anyone put a generic 5W-30 or 5W-40 in this engine, it is the wrong spec entirely and can affect the particulate filter over time.
OEM fill from the dealership is usually Castrol at 508 00 spec. A few aftermarket options that meet or exceed 508 00 that owners here have actually used:
- Motul 8100 X-clean EFE 0W-20
- Liqui Moly Special Tec V 0W-20
- Castrol EDGE Professional 0W-20 (LL IV, meets 508 00)
- Millers Oils Trident Longlife 0W-20
Always confirm the exact API/ACEA spec on the bottle before buying, the naming on shelves in India is not always consistent city to city. Curious what everyone else has actually run.
